From June to November, southern right whales come into Walker Bay — often close enough to watch from the shore.

A scenic coastal drive from Cape Town to Hermanus, renowned for shore-based whale watching. Walk the cliff paths above Walker Bay to find a quiet vantage point as the whales breach and play below. Add an optional boat trip to get closer, take lunch in town, browse the galleries and craft markets, and drive home along the coast.
